Xavier and Pistol are actually close in age. They get along pretty well as Step-Mother & Step-Son.

She's the victim of all of Xavier's pranks.

She restrains herself from ripping his jaw out.

She's his raid buddy.

She's the reducer of all of his groundings.

She's the bonus provider of his weekly allowance.

She's only other person that deep fries banana and peanut butter sandwiches.

However, everything seems to have changed since Pistol got preggers. He avoids her like the plague... and is waking up inflicted with the Teenaged Mood Swing.
